Best Views of North Georgia
Hike through fall forests. Enjoy sunset happy hours. Feel the season at Amicalola Falls State Park & Lodge.
Everywhere you go on top of the mountain or down into the valley where Amicalola Falls flows, you are surrounded by misty, ethereal beauty. Georgia’s mountains have many beautiful views, but I’ll say that this park and lodge is where the views come to you! All. Day. Long.
Let’s put it this way. You can bathe in the altitude of Amicalola Falls State Park where in the late fall, you’ll see fiery sunsets and flashy orange leaves drifting to the ground.
It’s getting busier on the weekends in North Georgia as people are anxious to feel the apple-crisp weather and to hike before the frost settles in.
Why not meet up with friends – middle of the week – at Amicalola Falls State Park & Lodge? The rates are more affordable midweek, and the trails and scenic locations are less crowded.
Check this list of views we experienced:
- Cabins with Views!
On a walk around the state park we asked a family if they minded we snap a picture of their s’mores and campfire moment. It was so cozy and quiet. Beautiful fall day.
- Firepit Views! From dusk until full purple dark, the firepits at the lodge keep you warm and cozy.
- Waterfall Views! It’s a cascading waterfall that begins with a gentle little creek just behind us. And then, plunge! Amicalola is Cherokee for “tumbling waters.”
Amicalola Falls is one of the higher cascading waterfalls east of the Mississippi River. It’s a challenge to fit in the full waterfall’s cascades as it descends. But here’s a closeup and it’s the centerpiece of the mountain experience. Guided waterfall hikes can be booked in advance. A state park interpreter will meet you in front of the new Visitor Center to begin the hike, which can be moderate to strenuous during the 1.5-hour tour.
- Cascades Restaurant Views!
Cascades is a restaurant nearly unrivaled for its views here in North Georgia. Day trippers and overnight guests alike can enjoy the traditional American and Southern classics accompanied by breathtaking Amicalola Falls State Park views. Take a seat and become enchanted by the dramatic sunset views.
If you’re coming this fall, consider Thanksgiving Week! The Lodge hosts a Thanksgiving Buffet in their onsite restaurant Cascades. No cleanup necessary! Reservations are encouraged.
- And finally, our peaceful room views from the lodge. Open the doors to a personal patio overlooking the mountains and valleys.
It’s awesome here. We have found a new getaway less than 2 hours from Atlanta with clearly some of the best views of North Georgia’s mountains.
