Join Park Naturalists to learn more about the amazing ecosystem that makes up Amicalola Falls State Park with these free programs.

America’s 250th Birthday Festivities

Join us for a day filled with games, crafts, and Independence Day fun on July 4, 2026 from 12pm – 4pm! Get your face painted, ride the hayride float, encounter live birds of prey, try your hand at one of the water relay games, or have a hotdog or two!

This 4th of July, we are going all in for America’s 250th birthday!

Animals of Amicalola Falls

Reserve your spot online for this 45-minute program. Learn amazing facts about our backyard heroes and what you can do to help protect them. Programs may include up to 2 of the following live animals: various species of snake, box turtle, hawk, and or owl.

Offered every Fridays & Sundays, 1pm and 4pm in the Lodge Lobby. Our animals may occasionally need the day off. In the rare event an animal is not available for this program, another program may take its place. Thank you for understanding.

Fundamentals of Explore & Identify: A Nature ID Walk

Join Georgia Master Naturalists as we explore the native flora and fauna of an Amicalola Spring. In this program, we will be diving into the identification app, iNaturalist, learning to use field guides, and other nature identification apps!

National Black Bear Day!

Come celebrate our American Black Bears and hear from Black Bear enthusiast, Gerold Hodge with Appalachian Friends of Bears! Learn about what part they play in the environment, what they do for us, and what we can do to help them.

Creek Wading with a Naturalist

Every Wednesday, 11:30am-12:30pm June-August 5th, come cool off with a Naturalist as we dive into the ecosystem within Little Amicalola Creek! Learn about the cool creatures that call our creek “home” and hear about how the North GA river systems have been a resource for plants, wildlife, and people alike for centuries! Program meant for k-6th

Junior Ranger Week

Do you know a child who loves the outdoors, learning, and exploring nature? Join us Monday through Friday, July 13–17, from 9:00 AM–12:00 PM for a week of exploration, creativity, and outdoor discovery at Amicalola Falls State Park! From wildlife exploration to nature identification, children will experience the wonders of the park through hands-on discovery and outdoor adventure. Designed for students entering 3rd–5th grade.

$30 per child

Nature Journaling

Join us as we begin our illustrative walk through the seasons and nature! In this program, we will be highlighting your individual interpretation of the surrounding environment while also strengthening your passion to discover, observe, be mindful, and be creative! We supply the journals, you bring the imagination! Find us in Shelter #2.

4th Saturday of the month at 10am

Iconic Trees of Amicalola Falls

Join volunteer naturalists in this 1-hour free program to learn how to use a tree ID guidebook and scientific sketches to identify amazing trees that are native to Amicalola! This walk will take place at the Lodge Loop Trail, which overlooks the mountain range that surrounds the Lodge. Meet us in the lodge lobby!

4th Saturday of the month at 2:30pm

Sunset Stories

Gather around the campground firepit for an evening of stories under the stars! Professional storytellers will share captivating tales of Appalachian folklore, local history, and timeless traditions. Bring a chair, a flashlight, and your imagination for this one-hour program filled with laughter and mountain magic. Program is weather permitting.

1st & 3rd Saturday at 8pm

Birds of Prey by Blue Ridge Raptors

Join Blue Ridge Raptors in the Lodge Lobby to meet up to six different species of raptor up close! Come early to chat with Raptor Specialists, stay after the program for photos with a raptor! This 45-minute program replaces the 1pm Animals of Amicalola on the days it is scheduled.

Offered 1st and 3rd Saturday at 1pm.

Teen Neon Night: Volleyball!

Join us in some friendly competition for an evening volleyball game! We will supply face paint, glow sticks, and a volleyball tutorial led by our interpretive staff! Waters will be provided as well as first aid. This program is meant for grade levels 7th-12th. Bring your A-game and meet us at the campground volleyball net!

Bats Of Georgia

If you don’t already love Georgia’s bats- you’re about to! Join bat enthusiasts and Georgia master naturalists to learn what bats do for us, and what we can do for Georgia’s bats. After the 30-minute presentation, take a walk using special bat-detecting gear to participate in citizen-science! Meet us in the campground picnic pavilion.

2nd & 4th Saturdays at 8pm

Nature's Book Nook

June-August, we will be spending every Tuesday morning at 10am diving into a book on local wildlife, folklore, plant-life, or maybe just fan favorites! Each book will be followed by a corresponding craft or activity! This program is meant for k-5th, but all ages welcome! Bring your imagination and meet us in the Visitor Centers Arch Room!
