Give it a Shot! — Join us this Thanksgiving, November 28th, for a free 20-minute Archery crash course! Interpretive Ranger-led Archery sessions will be available from 12:00pm-2:00pm!
No registration required; paper safety and liability waivers will be available and required for all participants. Adults must sign for minors. Ages 8 years+
Program Information
Animals of Amicalola Falls – Join a park naturalist to learn about animals native to Amicalola Falls State Park during this 30-minute program! Learn amazing facts about our backyard heroes and what you can do to help protect them. Programs may include up to 2 of the following live animals: various species of snake, box turtle, hawk, and or owl. Presentations take place in the Visitor’s Center.
Our animals may occasionally need the day off, in the rare event an animal is not available for this program another program may take its place. Thank you for understanding.
Birds of Prey presented by Blue Ridge Raptors – Join Blue Ridge Raptors in the Visitor’s Center Arch Room to meet up to 6 different species of raptor up close! 45-minute programs are held in Visitor’s Center Arch Room. Come early to chat with Raptor Specialists, stay after the program for photos with a raptor! This program replaces 1pm Animals of Amicalola on the days it is scheduled.
Iconic Trees of Amicalola Falls – Join volunteer naturalists in this 1.5 hour free program to learn how to use a tree ID guide book and scientific sketches to identify amazing trees that are native to Amicalola! This walk will take place at the Lodge Loop Trail, which overlooks the mountain range that surrounds the Lodge. Meet us in the lodge lobby!
Fundamentals of Nature Identification – Come explore the Biodiversity of Amicalola Falls with a short introduction to the iNaturalist Nature Identification app then a walk around our visitor center to identify surrounding flora/fauna. This virtual app allows for quick identification and education on plants, trees, and other native flora and fauna that can be found in our beautiful park. Meet us in the Lodge Lobby.

Christmas Open House – Amicalola Falls State Park is holding our annual Christmas Open House event on December 21st, 2024!Find Santa Andy in our Visitor Center’s Arch Room and share your Christmas wishes with him! Then, hop over to Shelter 2, our indoor classroom, to encounter Birds of Prey from Blue Ridge Raptors and enjoy holiday crafts, festive treats, a Gingerbread House Competition, and much more! Santa Meet & Greet – Celebrate this holiday season with us at Amicalola Falls State Park! Come share your Christmas wishes with Santa Andy from 3:00pm to 6:00pm in the Visitor Center’s Arch Room. Holiday crafts, festive treats, birds of prey encounters, and much more will also be available on December 21st! Reserve your spot online
Sunset Stories & Bats of Georgia will return in April 2025! With the weather getting cooler, our bats and campfire storytellers will be on vacation until spring.
